The dresser was pressed into service when I needed more fabric storage space - it used to hold my children's clothing. Note the colored tags on the handles to denote the color of fabric inside the drawers. As you can see, sometimes I sew standing up. Behind the dresser is my drafting table.

My drafting table currently holds my light box, which I use a lot. The tabouret on the right holds miscellaneous art supplies, like colored pencils, glues, spray cans, etc. Up high on the wall, the "steer head" made with bicycle parts was inspired by one made by Picasso. I made it back in the mid-80's, when we first moved into this house and I staked out this space for an art studio. I wasn't quilting yet, but I was already an artist.

Here's another view of my drafting table. On the wall, I find I can't have too many bulletin boards. One displays info about upcoming quilt shows and another displays current images I'm working with or thinking about.

This area has surfaces for ironing and cutting fabric, with fabric and batting storage underneath. There's a design wall on the right and an additional bulletin board on the left, where I try to organize all the challenges/contests/exhibits that I want to enter.

Storage and display shelves are on the left. The metal thing on the wall on the right is a piece of scrap metal I found while on a run. I was excited when I discovered that it was magnetic. I use clip magnets to hang small quilts from it, or sometimes I'll hang a piece of felt here to make a small design wall. I also put all my "magnetic poetry" words on the metal surface.

This is a cool storage system I got from Ikea several years ago. The outside shelves hold quilt books and magazines. They roll open to reveal hidden shelves, where these days I store paints, brushes, rubber stamps, dyes, and all sorts of stuff.
